FSM Petroleum Corporation is a progressive state owned enterprise with operations in Chuuk, Pohnpei, Kosrae, Yap, Nauru and Guam. Our Guam and Nauru Facilities operate under Vital Energy, Inc.
Under the FSM Public Law 18-68 known as “The Coconut Tree Act” Vital, FSMPC is mandated to add value to our own local coconut tree products. In support of this mandate we are executing a project to improve supply of coconuts by working with farmers in Chuuk (Fefen and Tonoas), outer islands of Pohnpei, and Pohnpei main island.
Extension Officer (Short-term Contract)
We are seeking individuals for the position of Extension Officers. Each Officer will be working in assigned project locations specifically in Pohnpei and Chuuk.
An Extension Officer is responsible for assisting farmer groups in areas of trade and farm management. A crucial part of the Extension Officer’s role is the collection of information from farmer groups. As a result, farmer groups will:
- Be matured ensuring consistent supply of raw coconut material
- Improve farm production;
- Have access to pathways to improved livelihood
Qualifications & Experience
An Extension Officer is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to their roles and responsibilities at all times. Extension Officers are further expected to have the ability to work with the following programs:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
We are seeking individuals with:
Essential:
- High school diploma
- Fluency in English (written & verbal)
- Good communication skills
Desirable:
- Associate degree in any related field
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
